Plot

Viren Sahai (Amitabh Bachchan) is a Mumbai-dreaded don operating from Bangkok. His son Abhir (Sushant Singh), whom he loves more than his life, is a spoilt brat, causing trouble for himself and others in Mumbai. Viren's worst enemy is Khan (Kadar Khan)in Mumbai. After an attempt is made on his life in Bangkok, Viren decides to come to India himself and eliminate Khan.

Shekhar (Akshay Kumar) is a positive minded cook, who works at the 'Quick Bite' canteen, who falls in love with Dr. Kavita (Bhoomika Chawla). They both soon get married. Shekhar's younger brother, Aryan (Aryeman Ramsay) decides to take the difficulties of managing his marriage since he completely dears his elder brother. When their father, Kishore (Anjan Srivastav) kicks Aryan out of the house since he was arrested for making a blue film, Shekhar goes out looking for him to bring him back. But when Aryan simply enjoys himself with friends and comes back by himself the next week, he finds that Shekhar has died. The police explains that Viren Sahai murdered Shekhar while the former was trying to shoot Khan in a theatre stampede. The fact would be that as Viren tries to shoot khan in the theatre, a stampede results, during which people are hurt, and Shekhar passing by goes to help people, and in the process of helping Khan, is sighted by Viren doing so, and the latter shoots him, thinking him to be one of Khan's men.

But even though Aryan knows he did not do it on purpose, he has sworn to take revenge. Aryan and his friends, kidnap Viren's family, and demand Viren to commit suicide. Thus begins a hide and seek game, with Viren and his men trying to hunt and kill the youngsters and save his family, and Aryan and his friends hiding them from Viren. Abhir manages to escape and go to his father after a scuffle. During their stay with the boys, Viren's family come to know what Aryan is doing all this for, and realize that it is Viren who is at fault. They sympathize with him. In the meantime, Babu bhai Bichchoo (Gulshan Grover), who sells Aryan and his friends guns to use, teams up with Abhir for a reward and they find out where they are hiding (in Viren's old mansion) where gunfire ensues, killing the rival gang members, and Abhir accidentally shoots his mother Sharada (Shernaz Patel).

Now the chase ends. The boys decide to surrender with the promise that they will be given justice. But again Viren tries to play foul, and the police imprison Aryan and his friends in a house at his orders. Viren then meets his daughter-in-law and grandson and cremates Sharada. At the request of his family, he decides to surrender to the police, and tells his men to release the boys. But Aryan and his friends attack them as soon as they are freed, and waste no time to find and kill Viren.

Viren goes to surrender to the cops, but he meets with a rude shock when he sees that six cops are waiting to kill him at the police station in a fake encounter, and that they have been given orders to do so by none other than his own son Abhir. It seems that Abhir is not happy with his father's decision to surrender, and so wants him dead. A frustrated and shocked Viren takes the cops by surprise, killing them all, and sits dejected at the station.

Aryan now lands at the station to kill Viren. The latter tells him all that he did for his ungrateful son, and what he has got in return and weeps, saying 'this is what his family is'. Then Khan and Abhir who have now teamed up, arrive with their gang to kill Viren. Gunfire ensues, Viren shoots Khan and the entire gang, and prevents Aryan from killing Abhi. Abhi thanks his dad for saving him, apologizes for what he tried to do and tries to distract Viren's attention to shoot him, but Viren turns and shoots Abhir. Seeing all this, Aryan simply walks away. Now totally helpless and lost, Viren demands that Aryan shoot him, but Aryan says that Viren's punishment is not death, it is his life.

The film ends on a note on karma, and with Aryan and his friends now managing 'Quick bite' as the credits zoom out.
